YOUR QUESTIONS, OUR ANSWERS...
Can rocks and coral damage my ROI iSUP?
No, most rocks you encounter should be no problem for the iSUP. They are double layers of PVC, so they are extremely durable and can handle a lot of abuse. Our SUPs are manufactured with the best military grade material and can be used on white waters without any problem.
Can I do Yoga on my ROI iSUP?
Yes, iSUPs are great for yoga because of the PVC material. While the entire board is very rigid, there is a bit of give at pressure points. This makes it a much more comfortable board to practice yoga.
How do I inflate my ROI iSUP?
Your ROI inflatable SUP features an H3, high-pressure inflation valve. Make sure the H3 inflation valve stem is closed (stem up). To close it, you have to push it with your thumb, twist, and let the spring push it up. When the valve stem is up, it's a one way valve - air can be pumped in thru the valve, but it can't escape.
Attach the inflation meter to the "inflate" side of the pump, then attach the pump hose to the inflation meter. The inflation is "in-line", so you can read the inflation level as you pump. Attach the free end of the pump hose to the H3 valve on the board and twist until it locks into place.
Pump up the board until it reaches 15 - 18 PSI. It will be easy to pump at first and nothing will register on the inflation valve until the board is pretty stiff. Then it gets a little harder to pump and you'll see the PSI meter start to register. The last 40-50 pumps are pretty difficult. Smaller women or children may require help to inflate the board. Two people can work the pump at one time, if needed.
The ROI Young, All-Around and the ROI-Touring have a SECURITY PRESSURE VALVE. A security pressure valve on an inflatable paddleboard is a safety feature designed to release excess pressure from the board in case of over inflation. It helps to prevent the board from rupturing or becoming damaged due to excessive air pressure. The valve allows for controlled release of air and helps to ensure the stability and safety of the board during use.
How long does my ROI iSUP take to inflate?
It takes about 10 minutes or less using the double action hand pump.
What is the recommended and max PSI for my ROI iSUP?
We recommend riding the board anywhere from 10 - 18 PSI. Most people inflate their board to about 10 - 12 PSI. The higher PSI will help if you are riding in cold or choppy water. If you need a bit more stability, try increasing the PSI of your board as well.
The max PSI of the inflatables is 20. We don't recommend inflating over about 18 PSI as you will only see small, incremental gains in the board's rigidity past that point (plus it's a lot more effort!).
What type of valve is on my ROI iSUP? Will a tire pump or compressor work?
All of our inflatables have a H3 valve. It's not unique to our boards, so you may have an adapter that fits. The valve on the board will not fit a tire pump nozzle without some sort of adapter. We do not specifically sell one, though.
Be careful when using any pump other than the ones we sell. The board has a max capacity of 20 PSI. We recommend riding it anywhere from 10-18 PSI.
How long does my ROI iSUP hold air for?
We keep our fleet of inflatable SUP boards for our demos inflated for months at a time and they never really seem to lose air. Even though most people think of inflating and deflating their inflatable SUP every time they go out, what a lot of people end up doing is just keeping it inflated. The beauty of these boards is really that they are nearly indestructible (when compared to an EPS/Epoxy boards that are prone to getting nicked up). The ability deflate them, roll them up, and transport them in a tight space is often times only an occasional thing and sometimes an afterthought on these inflatable boards.
How do I deflate and store my ROI iSUP?
Deflation:
Make sure the valve area is dry, so water doesn't get inside the board when you open the H3 valve on the board. Prepare yourself because air rushes out pretty quickly. Press down and then turn the valve stem clockwise to get it to lock in the down position. Once the valve stem is down, you can simply roll up the board from nose end and force the air to run out of the valve. Roll it up like a sleeping bag. Once you've got pretty much all the air you can get out of the board through this method, just push down and twist the valve stem to release it so it locks in the up position. Once it's in the up position, air will no longer be able to escape the board or enter the board (unless you attach the pump and force it in). Use the included strap to bundle up the board, and store.
How do I install the center fin on my ROI iSUP?
When your board arrives you should have a fin screw with a black head. The fin box has a built in receptor for this screw.
When putting the center fin into the fin box, put the brass rod end through the wider opening at the center of the fin box and down into the track. The rod will slide down the track. It's pretty tight sometimes, don't be afraid to tap it back into position.
Push the front of the fin base down and line up the hole at the top of the fin base with the hole in the fin box. Thread the screw into place. Sometimes if a really tight fitting fin and you'll just barely be able to get the screw threaded into the plate. Don't worry about using a little pressure, it will catch. And you're done!
Please note: If you are using your board in salt water, it is best to rinse the fin box off with fresh water after use so the pieces do not corrode and the fin remains easy to take on and off the board. Also, lost fins are not covered under warranty.
Is there a warranty on my ROI iSUP?
We have a 1 year limited manufacturer's warranty on our inflatable boards from the date of purchase. This excludes accessories (i.e. paddle and pump). The 1 year warranty covers any abnormal defect in workmanship or materials that occurs within the warranty period. This does not include normal wear and tear or any issues that arise due to negligence. Negligence may include, but is not limited to, damage due to prolonged sun exposure, damage or breakage due to occurrences outside of our control, damage due to salt water corrosion.
